SB50 Summary

• Requires owners of liquor lounges, cited hotels and massage parlors, transportation hubs, and adult entertainment venues to post a National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline poster (minimum 8.5 by 11 inches) in a conspicuous public location.

• Poster must display the hotline number 1-888-373-7888 and information about human trafficking protections, hotline availability in 170 languages, and services provided.

• Exempts theaters, concert halls, art centers, museums, and similar establishments devoted primarily to artistic or theatrical performances.

• Requires the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Public Service Commission, and Department of Industrial Relations to make posters available on their websites in English, Spanish, and other appropriate languages.

• Establishes penalties of a warning for first violation and fines up to $50 for each subsequent violation, with each day of noncompliance constituting a separate violation; becomes effective January 1, 2013.
