Tuscaloosa County Commission may abolish the position of medical examiner and reestablish the office of coroner in Tuscaloosa County.

Governor shall appoint a person to serve as coroner until a coroner is elected and qualified at the next General Election occurring at least 12 months after the office is reestablished.

Coroner elections shall be held every four years thereafter as provided by general law.

All powers and duties previously performed by the medical examiner shall be exercised and performed by the coroner as provided in Chapter 5 of Title 11 of the Code of Alabama 1975.

County Commission must establish the coroner's salary by resolution within 30 days prior to reestablishing the office, and Act 86-373 from 1986 is repealed following the appointment of a coroner.
