Effective beginning with the 2014 primary election, voters must be registered members of a political party to vote in that party's primary or primary runoff election.

Voters must have been registered as a member of the party for 90 days immediately preceding the primary election.

Registered voters who are unaffiliated with any party may only vote in non-partisan races during primary elections.

Beginning in November 2012, the Secretary of State must include a political party designation field on the official voter registration application.

The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor.
