County commissions must pay the Department of Forensic Sciences annually for all costs of services when the Department performs county coroner or medical examiner duties pursuant to local law.

County payments shall be made by the tenth day of each month and deposited into the Alabama Forensic Services Trust Fund.

The Department of Forensic Sciences determines the cost of services to be paid by each county.

If a county fails to make required payments, the Department is not obligated to perform coroner or medical examiner duties for that county.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2012.
