SB566 Summary

• Applies only to Jefferson County and amends Act 248 of the 1945 Regular Session regarding the Citizens Supervisory Commission of the county personnel board.

• Restructures the Commission composition to seven members including the county commission chairman, mayor of the largest city by employees, a county mayors association representative, probate judge, chamber of commerce president, and two elected classified service employees (one from public safety, one from non-public safety positions).

• Establishes that the probate judge serves as Commission chairman with tie-breaking vote authority, and defines duties including examination of member credentials, administration of oaths, and maintenance of records.

• Requires the Commission to meet semi-annually in May and November to receive personnel board reports, make recommendations, fill board vacancies, and review personnel board rules.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
