• Commends the Verizon Foundation for providing a $100,000 grant to Sight Savers America for the KidCheck health screening program in Alabama public schools.

• KidCheck originated as a state program created in 2008 by Governor Bob Riley's Alabama Rural Action Commission and became a department of the nonprofit Sight Savers America in 2011.

• More than 16,000 Alabama school children will receive free wireless comprehensive health screenings through the Verizon Foundation grant funding.
