Names the portion of U.S. Highway 78 westbound in Cleburne County between the Highway 9 intersection in Heflin and the Calhoun County line the Horace and Mary Merrill Highway.

Horace Merrill served 12 years as Cleburne County Circuit Clerk and was elected Probate Judge; he was active in civic organizations including the Lions Club, Jaycees, and Athletic Boosters Club.

Mary Merrill taught school for 30 years at multiple Cleburne County schools, coached girls athletics, and was particularly active in Boys and Girls Scouting programs.

Requests appropriate transportation officials to place and maintain signs and markers recognizing the highway designation.
