Club was chartered in Birmingham on April 4, 1980, by several notables including former Mayor Dr. Richard Arrington, Jr., with Ira Cummings elected as the first president.

Sponsors Key Clubs for youth at Parker High School and awards scholarships to high-achieving members to encourage academic excellence.

Serves the community through bell-ringing for the Salvation Army during Christmas, collecting toys for children, supporting the Jimmy Hale Mission financially, and feeding the homeless.

Senate adopted the resolution on April 26, 2012; House of Representatives adopted it on May 1, 2012.
