Municipal judges or magistrates in the City of Athens, Limestone County may assess defendants a $100 recall fee to recall failure to appear or failure to comply warrants.

The recall fee applies to warrants arising from municipal ordinance violations or other offenses in the municipal court of the City of Athens.

Warrant recall is discretionary and not required; all orders to recall warrants are issued solely at the discretion of the municipal judge or magistrate.

All fees collected from warrant recalls shall be deposited into the City of Athens Corrections Fund in accordance with Code of Alabama 1975 Section 11-47-7.1(a).

The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
