• Amends Alabama Code Section 6-5-332 (Good Samaritan Law) to add civil immunity protections for volunteer home caregivers.

• Grants immunity from civil damages to any person who volunteers without cost to provide temporary care under the direction of a primary home caregiver for individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses.

• Requires volunteers to act in good faith and perform care without charging for goods or services, and act as a reasonably prudent person would under similar circumstances.

• Protects volunteers from liability for acts, omissions, or failures to provide or arrange care for the person with a disability or chronic illness.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
