• Amends Section 30-5-2 of the Alabama Code to expand eligibility for protection from abuse orders under the Protection From Abuse Act.

• Adds a new category of plaintiff relationship allowing courts to issue protection orders against an adult child of the victim, in addition to existing categories such as spouses, dating partners, and household members.

• Defines "adult" as any person 19 years of age or older, or who is otherwise emancipated.

• Allows a parent or former legal guardian of an adult defendant to seek protection from abuse orders against that adult child.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
