HB325 Summary

• State licensure for physicians and dentists in Alabama shall be granted based solely on demonstrated skill and academic competence.

• Licensure approval for physicians and dentists cannot be conditioned upon or related to participation in any public or private health insurance plan, public health care system, public service initiative, or emergency room coverage.

• Licensure of dentists, osteopaths, and physicians shall be conducted exclusively under Chapter 9 of Title 34 and the specified sections of Article 3 and Article 8 of Chapter 24 of Title 34, Code of Alabama 1975.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
