Washington County Sheriff or authorized agent shall collect a $100 motor vehicle impoundment fee from owners or operators of vehicles impounded for use in transporting illegal drugs within the county.

Sheriff must establish and maintain a Sheriff's Vehicle Impoundment Fund in a Washington County bank to deposit all collected fees.

Sheriff shall maintain records of all collected monies and fund transactions subject to audit by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, with audit results submitted within 30 days of completion.

All funds in the impoundment fee account shall be expended at the sheriff's discretion for law enforcement purposes in the interest of the public.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, and ratifies any prior collection actions and deposits any existing proceeds into the newly created fund.
