HB388 Summary

• Increases the minimum required behind-the-wheel driving practice hours for Stage II driver's license applicants who are 16 years old from 30 hours to 50 hours.

• Requires applicants to submit a verification form signed by a parent, legal guardian, or licensed/certified driving instructor certifying completion of the 50-hour minimum, or alternatively submit a certificate of completion from an approved driver's education course.

• Amends Section 32-6-7.2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 governing restricted driver's licenses for young drivers.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
