HB445 Summary

• Amends Section 45-8A-71.04 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding the Civil Service Board of the City of Jacksonville in Calhoun County.

• Board membership consists of five members appointed by the state senator and state representative: four members representing street and sanitation, police and fire, gas/water/sewer, and mayor/council/clerk/library/recreation departments, plus one at-large member.

• Board members serve six-year terms and must be qualified electors of Jacksonville over age 25; they take constitutional oath of office filed with the judge of probate.

• A board member's office is automatically vacated if the member fails to attend three consecutive regular meetings or six regular meetings within a twelve-month period.

• The act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
