HB459 Summary

• Removes the $2 annual fee that labor organizations must pay to the Alabama Department of Labor when filing required annual reports.

• Labor organizations with 25 or more members remain required to file annual reports by March 31 (or within 90 days of fiscal year end) showing financial statements, officer information, membership numbers, and property owned.

• All other filing requirements for labor organizations remain unchanged, including submission of constitutions, bylaws, and documentation of amendments to the Department of Labor.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.

• Passed by the House on April 30, 2013 and the Senate on May 20, 2013.
