HB48 Summary

• Amends Section 34-7A-22 of the Alabama Code to modify qualification requirements for cosmetology licensing by the Alabama Board of Cosmetology.

• Increases minimum clock hours for cosmetologist instructor training from 1,200-1,700 credit unit hours to 1,500 clock hours in a board-licensed cosmetology school.

• Increases minimum clock hours for esthetician instructor training from 1,200-1,700 credit unit hours to 1,500 clock hours in a board-licensed esthetics school.

• Increases minimum clock hours for manicurist instructor training to 1,250 actual clock hours and requires the school to be licensed or regulated under the chapter.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
