• Alabama motor vehicle owners who are state residents may obtain distinctive law enforcement memorial license plates by paying an additional annual fee of $25, in addition to regular registration fees and taxes.

• The State Law Enforcement Memorial in Anniston, Alabama shall design the plates to honor law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, subject to Department of Revenue approval.

• Plates are valid for five years and may be replaced with conventional, personalized, or new law enforcement memorial plates.

• Monthly distribution of additional fee revenue: $20 to the State Law Enforcement Memorial in Anniston, Alabama, and $5 to the National Police Memorial in Washington, D.C.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor.
