HB 669 Summary

• Cullman County Superintendent of Education shall be appointed by the Cullman County Board of Education rather than elected, beginning upon expiration of the current superintendent's term.

• Appointed superintendent serves a term of two to four years beginning July 1st following their appointment and must meet all qualifications prescribed by state law.

• Cullman County Board of Education sets the superintendent's compensation and fills any vacancies that occur before the first appointed superintendent takes office.

• Repeals prior election-related statutes including Sections 45-22-100.02 and 45-22-100.05 of the Code of Alabama 1975 and Acts from 1955, 1969, and 1973.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
