HB99 Summary

• Adds a $5 additional fee for each firefighter distinctive motor vehicle tag issued to current members, retired members, and volunteers of paid, part-paid, or volunteer fire departments.

• Collected fees shall be forwarded to the State Treasurer and distributed to the Fire Fighters Annuity and Benefit Fund for the fund's designated purposes.

• Amends Section 32-6-272 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to implement the new fee while maintaining existing provisions for tag issuance and use on personally-owned vehicles.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
