Supports Homeland Security Director Spencer Collier's initiative to convene federal, state, and local education, law enforcement, and emergency management stakeholders to discuss school safety issues in Alabama schools.

Encourages Director Collier to continue holding regular meetings with stakeholder groups to address school safety and emergency preparedness, including response to active shooter situations.

Requests that legislative leadership or their representatives be invited to participate in future meetings to keep the Legislature informed on school safety developments.

Response was prompted by the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut that killed 20 students and 6 school personnel.

Adopted by House on April 16, 2013 and Senate on May 2, 2013.
