University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is ranked among Tier One national universities by U.S. News and World Report, placing it in the top five percent of colleges and universities across the United States.

UAH is classified in the "very high activity" research category by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, ranking among only 73 public universities in America with this designation.

UAH has four research programs ranked in the Top 10 nationally and 14 in the Top 20 according to the National Science Foundation, with leadership roles in aerospace engineering, cybersecurity, space science, robotics, and other technical fields.

UAH maintains extensive partnerships with government agencies at Redstone Arsenal, including NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and United States Army commands, and serves as anchor tenant for Cummings Research Park, the second largest university-related research park in the United States.

The Legislature commends UAH for its outstanding support of Alabama's economic, technological, and workforce development, recognizing that half of UAH's graduating students earn degrees in engineering or physical science.
