Designates February 28, 2013, as Alabama Rare Disease Awareness Day to raise public awareness of rare diseases affecting patients and families.

Designates May 15, 2013, as MPS I (Mucopolysaccharidosis) Awareness Day in Alabama to highlight this genetic disease that causes cell, tissue, and organ damage.

Acknowledges that over 6,000 rare diseases affect more than 60 million people in Europe and the United States, with most being genetic, serious, chronic, and debilitating.

Notes that collaborative research among multiple national and international teams and standardized public health policies can improve outcomes for rare disease patients.
