Paul South is commended for being named 2012 Jackson Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club and nominated by the CCARC Foundation and Kiwanis Club.

South has served as City of Jackson Councilman since 1992, Mayor Pro Tem, and on multiple boards including the Water Board, Salvation Army Board of Directors, ARC of Clarke County, and CCARC Foundation.

His community contributions include supervising Meals on Wheels, reading to children at schools and day care facilities, advocating for schools to City Council, constructing the Highway 177 softball field, and helping bring the National Veterans Monument "Moving Wall" to Jackson.

South is a University of Alabama graduate married to Jan since 1976 with three children (Carrie, Laura, and Will), and a native of Birmingham who made Jackson his adopted hometown.

The House of Representatives of the Legislature of Alabama extends highest commendation and congratulations to Paul South for his compassionate service and unwavering commitment to his community.
