Recognizes Officer Calvin Crow of the Birmingham Police Department as a nominee for the 2013 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

Officer Crow is a 15-year veteran of the Birmingham Police Department who responded to an armed hostage situation at St. Vincent's Hospital on December 15, 2012.

On that date, an armed suspect entered the hospital, took a security guard hostage, and opened fire on five responding officers from the South Precinct, wounding two hospital employees and one officer.

The officers neutralized the threat without sustaining additional casualties among officers or innocent persons, preventing a potential mass casualty event.

Directs that Officer Crow receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of legislative admiration and esteem for his demonstrated courage and dedication to duty.
