Recognizes Sheriff Kenny Harden of Butler County as a nominee for the 2013 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage.

On August 28, 2012, Sheriff Harden responded to a hostage situation in Wilcox County involving an escaped inmate from the Department of Corrections who was holding a female hostage.

The escaped inmate, who had been previously incarcerated at Butler County Correctional Facility, requested that Sheriff Harden be called after initial negotiations failed.

Sheriff Harden and Major Albert McKee successfully negotiated the inmate's surrender and secured the hostage's release with no harm to anyone involved.

Directs that Sheriff Harden receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of the House's admiration and esteem.
