Recognizes Deputy Tony Wayne Blackwell of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office as a nominee for the 2013 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award.

Deputy Blackwell has served since 2007 in multiple roles including patrol deputy, K-9 handler, Drug Agent, and member of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Mounted Unit.

On June 8, 2012, Deputy Blackwell used deadly force against an armed suspect who had attempted to flee and pulled a weapon on him, protecting himself and an Alabama State Trooper involved in the chase.

After the incident, Deputy Blackwell checked on his injured fellow officer and performed CPR on the suspect until medical personnel arrived, demonstrating both courage and compassion.

Directs that Deputy Blackwell receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the House's admiration and esteem.
