Recognize March 11, 2013, as World Plumbing Day to highlight the important role of the plumbing industry and licensed plumbing professionals.

Acknowledge that World Plumbing Day was founded March 1, 2010, by the World Plumbing Council and International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) to protect public health and safety through uniform plumbing codes.

Note that 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to safe water supplies, 2.6 billion lack access to healthy sanitation systems, and 3.1 million children die annually from water-related diseases.

Recognize that global events will be held on World Plumbing Day in Australia, India, New Zealand, China, the United Kingdom, and the United States to raise awareness about the importance of plumbing professionals in society.
