Mourns the death of Mrs. Ethel Dixie Childress, born August 1939 in Bessemer, Alabama, who died in April 2013.

Recognizes her education as Valedictorian of Brighton High School Class of 1957 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing from Grady Memorial Nursing School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1960.

Honors her 33+ year nursing career at Birmingham Veterans Administration Hospital until retirement in 1995, followed by work at Caring Corner Child Care Center in Hoover, Alabama from 1995-2012.

Acknowledges her active membership in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, Alabama and community involvement including the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Peter Claver and the Social and Savings Club Les Soeurs.

Extends sympathy to her surviving family including husband Joe Louis Childress of 51 years, four children, multiple grandchildren, and extended family members.
