The Study Club of Andalusia, Alabama is commended and congratulated on its centennial celebration marking 100 years since its organization in 1913 and federation in 1914.

The club was founded by Miss Ethel Darling (Mrs. D.D. Chapman), Mrs. A.L. Gresham, Miss John Glen (Mrs. J.L. Mixon), Miss Martha Riley (Mrs. Warren Hunter), and Mrs. C.N. Wharton with the goal of establishing a public library.

Early milestone achievements include a Christmas tea and book shower that raised $5.50 and 15 books in 1913, acquisition of 100 books from Soldiers' Libraries after World War I, opening of the Covington County Free Library in 1920 with 200 books, and establishment of a new library building in 1939.

The club secured the old Andalusia Post Office for the library through a letter-writing campaign beginning in 1963, leading to the opening of the Andalusia Public Library on April 26, 1967, with 15,000 volumes and a 1975 expansion with an Assembly/Learning Center.

The House of Representatives directs that a copy of this resolution be provided to the club for display with congratulations on the centennial celebration and best wishes for future success.
