Commends the Excelsior Band on being honored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts on May 21, 2013

Founded on November 23, 1883, the band has marched in downtown Mobile Mardi Gras parades for more than a century and performed Dixieland and conventional jazz along the Gulf Coast

Ten-piece marching brass band composed of three trumpets, three saxophones, trombone, tuba, bass drum, and snare drum with members from diverse occupational backgrounds

Current band members are Hosea London (leader), Leroy Bosley Jr., Danny Moseley Jr., Marion Ward, Carl Cunningham, Patrick Pettaway, Theodore Arthur, James Moore, Leon Rhoden, and Jerome Bryant

House of Representatives recognizes the Excelsior Band as an incomparable Alabama treasure and extends hearty congratulations for the honor from the State Council on the Arts
