Commends Chandler Marie Champion on being selected Miss Leeds Area 2013 and honors her selection to compete in the Miss Alabama contest in June 2013 at Samford University as part of Miss America preliminaries.

Champion is a sophomore at The University of Alabama double majoring in Dance and Broadcast Journalism who advocates literacy through her platform "Chandler's Challenge: Reading is Believing, Don't Stop Believing."

Champion has previously competed as Miss Trussville 2012 (second runner-up, talent and swimsuit preliminary winner) and Miss Centerpoint 2011 (third runner-up), and won multiple Outstanding Teen titles from 2007-2009.

Champion volunteers with the Optimist Club and contributed to the reconstruction of Gateway's Rushton School Library in Birmingham, which was named in her honor; she has performed in Crimson Cabaret and played Cinderella in the University of Alabama's Broadway production.

The House of Representatives conveys deepest admiration and appreciation to Champion, extending best wishes for the Miss Alabama Competition and all future endeavors.
