The Alabama House of Representatives mourns the death of Mr. Steve Ernest Tondera, Sr., of Huntsville, Alabama, who died on February 13, 2013, at age 79.

Mr. Tondera was born September 20, 1933, in Bellmead, Texas, graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Mathematics and Physics, and served in the United States Army stationed at Redstone Arsenal.

He was a charter member of NASA, Baptist churchman, and progressive cattleman who raised registered Santa Gertrudis cattle on the "Diamond T" Ranch and held leadership roles in the University of South Alabama Foundation, Lions Club, and American Red Cross.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Perkins Tondera, daughter Tamra Tondera Renfrow, sons Steven Tondera Jr. and Joe Tondera, brother Harold Tondera, and six grandchildren.

The House of Representatives records his death with deep sadness and offers heartfelt sympathy to his family.
