• Proposes constitutional amendment to Article I, Section 26 of Alabama Constitution to designate the right to bear arms as a "fundamental right" rather than a simple right.

• Requires any restriction on the right to bear arms to be subject to "strict scrutiny" judicial review standard, the highest level of constitutional scrutiny.

• Prohibits citizens from being compelled by international treaty or law to take actions that prohibit, limit, or otherwise interfere with the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

• Amendment becomes effective upon approval by a majority of qualified electors voting in a statewide election held in accordance with Alabama election law.

• Contains severability clause providing that if any portion of the amendment is declared invalid or unconstitutional, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.
