SB210 Summary

• Expands Alabama's existing tobacco prohibition for minors to include alternative nicotine products such as electronic cigarettes and other nicotine-containing products that can be ingested by chewing, smoking, absorbing, dissolving, or inhaling.

• Defines "alternative nicotine product" to include electronic cigarettes and products containing nicotine, while excluding FDA-regulated drugs, devices, and certain combination products.

• Makes it unlawful for minors under age 19 to purchase, use, possess, or transport tobacco, tobacco products, or alternative nicotine products within the state.

• Permits minor employees of tobacco or alternative nicotine product permit holders to handle and sell these products only if acting within their employment scope and under supervision of an employee aged 21 or older.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
