SB213 Summary

• Provides annual cost-of-living salary increases for state employees and public education employees beginning October 1, 2013, based on the Consumer Price Index for the preceding year.

• Applies to classified and unclassified state employees, legislative personnel, county health department employees under Merit System, and public education employees, excluding elected officials, judges, and those covered by labor agreements.

• Salary increase is in addition to any step increases employees are otherwise entitled to receive.

• Director of State Personnel Department, Administrative Director of Courts, and legislative leadership shall revise and certify revised pay schedules to the state Comptroller for warrant issuance.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor; exempted from Amendment 621 local funding requirements because it applies only to school board expenditures.
