SB24 Summary

• Prohibits business entities, property owners, and public or private employers from establishing policies against transporting or storing firearms and ammunition in privately owned motor vehicles when kept from ordinary observation and the vehicle is lawfully parked or operated.

• Authorizes civil actions for persons injured or denied the opportunity to transport firearms, with court costs and attorney's fees awarded to prevailing plaintiffs.

• Entitles employees discharged for firearm transportation to reinstatement, full benefits, seniority restoration, and compensation for lost wages within 45 calendar days or through civil action.

• Provides limited immunity to business entities, property owners, and employers for damages or injuries from another person's actions involving transported firearms, unless they intentionally solicited or procured the injurious actions.

• Creates exceptions to the prohibition for persons prohibited from possessing firearms under state or federal law, locations where firearms are federally prohibited, vehicles owned by businesses used in employment, and property owned by electric utility entities.
