• Increases the Board of Pardons and Paroles membership from three members to five members.

• Requires board members to be appointed to reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of Alabama.

• Changes the quorum requirement from two members to three members for conducting official board business.

• Replaces the term "chairman" with "chair" throughout the statute and updates pronouns to be gender-neutral ("he or she").

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
