AL SB34

Prohibits imposition of the death penalty on any person who was less than 18 years of age at the time of committing a capital offense.

Aligns Alabama law with existing U.S. Supreme Court rulings under the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments that prohibit executing individuals who were minors at the time of the crime.

Defines a minor as any person under 18 years of age and identifies various legal restrictions already applied to minors under Alabama law (firearm possession, employment restrictions, voting, jury service, contract limitations).

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon becoming law through other means.
