SB363 Summary

• Amends Section 34-27A-7 of the Alabama Code to authorize the Alabama Real Estate Appraisers Board to consult with state and federal law enforcement authorities to verify whether applicants have criminal records prior to issuing licenses.

• Allows the board to require applicants to provide fingerprints and complete an affidavit disclosing their criminal record, if any, as part of the application process.

• Permits the board to periodically consult with law enforcement officials to determine whether current licensees have acquired new criminal convictions.

• Maintains the existing requirement that real estate appraiser applicants be of good moral character to obtain a license.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
