Residents of Alabama with a medical diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder may request the letters "ASD" be displayed on their driver's license.

The Director of Public Safety shall establish by rule the proof required from individuals requesting the "ASD" designation on their driver's license.

All other contents and information on an "ASD" driver's license shall remain identical to standard driver's licenses.

The Department of Public Safety may not charge any additional fee beyond the standard driver's license fee for adding the "ASD" designation.

The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor.
