AL SB380

Establishes the new crime of trespass on a school bus in the first degree as a Class B misdemeanor.

Makes it illegal to willfully demolish, destroy, deface, injure, burn, or damage any public school bus.

Prohibits entering a public school bus while doors are open for loading/unloading, at railroad grade crossings, or after being forbidden by authorized school bus drivers, principals, or school officials.

Prohibits refusing to leave a school bus on demand of authorized school bus drivers, principals, or school officials, and prohibits willfully stopping, impeding, delaying, or detaining any school bus.

Exempts children under 12 years of age and authorized school personnel boarding buses as part of their job assignment from the prohibition on entering or refusing to leave buses.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
