• Requires the State Board of Education to safeguard personally identifiable student data and use it only for legitimate educational purposes, effective from the remainder of the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

• Prohibits the State Board of Education, Department of Education, and other state bodies from funding or expanding Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) designed to track students or compile personal, non-academic information beyond basic administrative needs.

• Restricts sharing of student or teacher data with entities outside the state, including federal agencies, except under specific limited circumstances with parental consent and written agreements on data use and destruction.

• Prohibits the State Board of Education from entering into agreements or consortiums that cede any control to entities outside the state and requires public hearings and stakeholder input before adopting any statewide school standards.

• Repeals the Common Core State Standards Initiative and voids all state and district-level adoptions or implementations of Common Core State Standards as of the effective date.
