AL SB405

Requires voters to register with a political party and maintain that registration for 90 days before the 2016 primary election and all subsequent primary elections to vote in that party's primary.

Restricts voters from voting for candidates of any party other than the party in which they are registered as a member.

Allows unaffiliated voters and those registered with any party to vote in non-partisan races during primary elections regardless of party affiliation.

Mandates the Secretary of State prescribe political party designation on the official voter registration application by November 1, 2013.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
