AL SB418

Applies exclusively to Montgomery County and authorizes the County Commission, with the sheriff's concurrence, to contract with private, public, or governmental entities for service of process (except arrest warrants).

Imposes an additional $30 fee per document for service or attempted service in both criminal and civil divisions of Montgomery County district and circuit courts.

Court officials collect the fees and remit them to the Montgomery County Commission for deposit in the county general fund, with exemptions available if payment would create substantial hardship upon verified court approval.

District attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and grand juries are exempt from paying the fees.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
