SB468 Summary

• Amends Act 79-473 to redistribute Tennessee Valley Authority in-lieu-of-tax payments received by Jackson County, Alabama among specified recipients.

• First $145,000 annually goes to Jackson County Hospital Board for ambulance service; next $105,000 goes to Jackson County Economic Development Authority; additional $75,000 goes to EDA for industrial recruitment and development fund.

• Allocates $5,000 annually to each Jackson County volunteer fire department in good standing, plus $30,000 to the Jackson County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments; $25,000 annually to Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad.

• Beginning October 1, 2013, remaining payments distributed as follows: 2% for state legislative delegation offices, 2% to EDA, 33.5% to public schools on per-pupil basis, 25.5% to municipalities on population basis, 25.5% to county general fund, and 11.5% to Jackson County Discretionary Fund.

• Establishes Jackson County Discretionary Committee consisting of six members (county commission chair, one commission member, revenue commissioner, state senator, and two state house members) to oversee discretionary fund disbursements; effective October 1, 2013.
