SB477 Summary

• Applies only to Morgan County and prohibits more than one adult or unrelated juvenile criminal sex offender from residing in the same residence.

• Prohibits adult criminal sex offenders from establishing residence in apartment complexes unless they are at least 100 yards away from any other adult criminal sex offender's residence.

• Property owners or lessees who knowingly permit violations are subject to civil penalties of $5,000 per violation, with collected penalties split equally between the county sheriff's department and district attorney's office.

• Exempts spouses and children of property owners/lessees, property owners who obtained signed statements from lessees denying sex offender status, and sex offenders residing in state-approved residential home health care treatment facilities.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
