SB88 Summary

• Amends Section 9-11-244 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow whitetail deer hunting over supplemental feed on private land under specified conditions.

• Permits hunting of whitetail deer more than 100 yards from a supplemental feeder if the feeder is outside the hunter's line of sight, defined as "hidden from view by natural vegetation or naturally occurring terrain features."

• Prohibition on hunting over bait continues to apply on public lands.

• Known as the Hunter Protection Act, intended to clarify supplemental feeding regulations and prevent landowners from discontinuing winter feeding during deer season.

• Effective the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
