• Honors attorneys and judges who contributed to Alabama's Civil Rights Movement, particularly their work in 1963 and afterward in securing equality and justice.

• Celebrates a documentary film developed by Emmy award-winning producer Mike Letcher in partnership with the University of Alabama Center for Public Television, debuting at the Journey for Justice Gala on May 4, 2013.

• Recognizes both living honorees including Harvey Burg, U.W. Clemon, J. Mason Davis, Paul Johnston, Clarence Jones, and others, as well as posthumous recognition for legal heroes including Thurgood Marshall, Frank M. Johnson, and Arthur D. Shores.
