• Amends Section 34-27A-7 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize the Alabama Real Estate Appraisers Board to conduct criminal history background checks on applicants for real estate appraiser licensure.

• Requires applicants to submit a sworn form containing name, date of birth, and Social Security number, along with two complete sets of fingerprints to the board for criminal background checks.

• Directs the board to submit fingerprints to the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) for state-level criminal history checks, with the ABI forwarding results to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for national-level checks.

• Makes applicants responsible for bearing all costs associated with conducting the criminal history background checks.

• Requires the board to keep background check information confidential, except when such information is used to deny issuance of a real property appraiser license, in which case it may be disclosed to support the denial.
